About: The great Agnes Denes, grande dame of environmental art, is back this month with CIRCA, the art and culture platform supporting artists and bringing free art to the public.
40 years since Dene’s ground-breaking work Wheatfield – A Confrontation (May 1982), CIRCA is proud to present Another Confrontation by Agnes Denes, transforming Piccadilly Lights, Times Square, Pendry West Hollywood, K Pop Square Seoul, and other major screens around the world into platforms for change at 22:22 hrs nightly throughout May.
Featuring three new video works alongside a specially created interactive AR Wheatfield filter expanding the experience into mobile devices, and an environmental questionnaire, Denes confronts a new generation to the planet’s continuing humanitarian and environmental challenges.
We are looking for social support to encourage the public to use and share the specially created AR Wheatfield via Instagram Stories hashtagging #AnotherConfrontation before 30th May 2022. Those who post their wheatfield on Insta tagging #AnotherConfrontation will then be in with a chance to win a £5000 Agnes Denes print and may be selected to have their picture shown on Piccadilly Lights on Agnes’s 91st birthday on 31 May 2022, when a curated selection of AR wheat field photos generated by the public will be presented by CIRCA on London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights.
