About The Brand

Name: Ritual Cacao

About: Ritual Cacao is a well-being company, working with ceremonial-grade cacao as a plant medicine & well-being remedy to reduce stress and anxiety.

Our aim at Ritual Cacao is to promote the benefits of cacao, as part of a healthy lifestyle and mindfulness practise, and encourage ritualising a daily cup of cacao to improve mental health in a gentle, effective and enjoyable way.

We offer 100% pure & organically grown Cacao, as well as; ceremonies, rituals, retreats, workshops and online events using Ceremonial Cacao.

Our cacao is traded fairly and directly with Amazonian farmers of the Tsatsayaku Association and Ashaninka tribe.

The more Cacao is processed, the more of its goodness disappears. We sell cacao straight from the bean, and ground down into what is known as the ‘cacao liquor,’ which is historically renowned for its many health benefits that support physical and psychological well-being.

Ceremonial-grade Cacao is different from commercial chocolate, because it is pure and
without any added milk, fats or sugars. It retains its healthy natural fats, and a host of
powerful antioxidants that are lost in the heating and refining process that chocolate
undergoes.

“Ritual Cacao is a ceremonial-grade Cacao business where I work with Cacao as a medicine for modern life, and a therapeutic tool to help heal trauma, PTSD, addiction, and other mental health issues.” -Rebekah Shaman, CEO

Mental Health Awareness Week
10th – 16th May 2021

This Cacao Challenge coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week because while we have been so focused on our physical health, we are neglecting our mental and emotional wellbeing.

This can have a negative impact on our energy levels, sleep patterns and relationships. Cacao is a heart-opening plant packed full of nutrients and minerals to boost our immune systems and help us feel more peace and calm. A wonderful remedy during these times of turbulence and change.

More about Cacao:

Cacao contains high doses of potassium, phosphorus, iron, zinc, selenium, chromium, manganese, copper and magnesium, which are essential minerals that many of us are deficient in, leaving our immune systems compromised and leaving us without the energy or spare capacity to deal with life’s challenges.

Cacao releases Serotonin, the ‘harmonious’ chemical, because it regulates mood, appetite and digestion, memory, sexual desire and function, contributing to a restful sleep, general calm and a sense of wellbeing and peace.

Cacao directly connects to our nervous system triggering Dopamine and the endorphin ‘Anandamide’, the bliss molecule, two essential neurotransmitters that make us feel blissed out and help lift depression.

Scientific research has confirmed that regular consumption of Cacao, or dark chocolate, can help to reduce weight, relieve stress and depression, lower blood pressure, and can also be used as a helpful diuretic.

Pure Cacao contains powerful antioxidants along with a significant amount of chromium, which balances blood sugar levels, reduces cravings and improves insulin uptake in the body. It also increases blood flow to the brain, creating more mental agility, awareness and focus.

FAQ
Q. What is a Cacao Ceremony?
A Cacao Ceremony gives us sacred space and time for ourselves in a chaotic and stressful world. It is the perfect space to switch off the external noise and take a shamanic journey into ourselves to meet the spirit of Cacao. Once we have met her she gives us the answers we are seeking, helps us find clarity, and shows us the next steps that we need to take.

Q. What is Ceremonial Grade Cacao?
Our 100% pure organic Cacao is what we call ‘ceremonial grade,’ which means it is of the highest quality both as a food and energetically. Because we pay a fair price to the tribes, and they lovingly grow, nurture and harvest the ancient Amazonian variety of criollo beans that grow naturally on their land, the Cacao can be used in sacred Plant Medicine Ceremony. When used as a Plant Medicine, Cacao works as a powerful heart opener.

Q. Who Are The Tsatsayaku Tribe?
Tsatsayaku is made up of 140 Kichwa and mestizo families from 13 different communities, and its mission is to produce and conserve ancestral cacao (Arriba Nacional / Fino de Aroma) that provides a fair price for its members. The Cacao itself is grown in the traditional Kichwa farming method ‘Chakra’, which has a conscientious respect for the natural environment. The organic approach seeks to preserve biodiversity and natural resources.

Q. Who Are The Ashaninka Tribe?
Asháninka land is in the rainforests of the lower Amazon basin in Peru. The Asháninka are known historically to be fiercely independent. They are striving to keep their cultural and environmental heritage despite pressure from the modernisation of the outside world. They live a lifestyle of subsistence but the forest they live in is under threat, particularly from illegal logging, palm oil production, and Coca growing for cocaine production.
Cacao is a vital crop for the Asháninka because it is best operated within a co-operative, which is perfect for the communal living of the tribe, provides protection of their land, they can promote organic and traditional farming methods and is a cash crop so that they can maintain their economic independence and sovereignty.
