Name: Who Made My Pride Merch
About: #WhoMadeMyPrideMerch is a campaign inspired by fashion revolution which aims to hold brands accountable, share information and resources, and stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ garment workers. It ran for the first time last year, but this year I want to make it bigger and better.
Pride collections are made by big brands under the pretence that they care about LGBTQ+ people, but most pride collections are made in countries with anti-LGBTQ+ laws and where it is incredibly dangerous for LGBTQ+ people to be themselves. This shouldn’t be the case, brands should be making sure their workers are protected at work, and paid a living wage, which is where this campaign comes in!
We’re asking brands #WhoMadeMyPrideMerch and calling for more transparency in supply chains, better treatment of all workers, and protections in place for LGBTQ+ workers. We also hope to get creative, supporting people to make their own pride pieces, stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ garment workers, and celebrate sustainably too. Celebrating pride should not come at the expense of people or the environment.
The Influencer Campaign
Campaign: Help the #WhoMadeMyPrideMerch campaign
Brief: Currently #WhoMadeMyPrideMerch is run by one person, and so I’m looking for any help I can get with running this campaign and putting it out there! Help with writing and copy, social media and design, making a website, anything is welcome!
We’re also looking to run some workshops centred around making your own price pride pieces, as well as sustainable and ethical fashion.
This is a volunteer opportunity, as I am only one person running this campaign currently, but however much or little you’re available to help will be welcome. You’d get some great experience in helping to run a campaign, and would be helping to push the fashion world towards more ethical and sustainable practices.
Ideally looking for other LGBTQ+ people to join in the campaign, but allies are more than welcome!
Even if you can’t help run the campaign, keep an eye out in June for the relaunched and get involved in our activities then!
