About: Fashion Revolution is the world’s largest fashion activism movement, mobilising citizens, industry and policymakers through research, education and advocacy work. We are part of a coalition of partners leading the Good Clothes, Fair Pay campaign which is calling for EU living wage legislation for garment workers worldwide.
The Influencer Campaign
Campaign: Help secure living wages for garment workers worldwide
Brief: Most of the people who make our clothes do not make a living wage. These workers, mostly women, earn on average 49% less than they need to provide for themselves and their families. Despite working gruelling hours, most struggle to put healthy food on the table, live in adequate housing, access healthcare, or even to send their children to school.
As EU citizens, we have the power to change this and give garment workers a decent pay for their hard day’s work. Good Clothes, Fair Pay is a European Citizens Initiative demanding a living wage for the people who make our clothes. We need to collect 1 million signatures by July 19th 2023 to force the European Union to respond, which we hope will lead to a living wage law. This legislation, if passed, would be truly globe in scope and would help lift millions of garment workers out of poverty worldwide.
We’re now in the final push of this historic campaign. We’ve just reached 186,000 signatures, but we still have a long way to go. With your help, we can collect as many signatures as possible before our campaign ends on 19th July 2023.
